Trying To Explain the Eternal Purpose of God.

Luke 14:28-30 “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.”

Let us be bold here talking about our God, He is Eternal and has absolute Sovereign Power over all His creation. God created heaven and all that is within it, He created the earth and all that is withing it, He also created the heavens (the firmament) and all that is in it, then God created everything within the earth, and lastly God created people, male and female. God created everything that exist and He created it all for His own glory, even the wicked for the day of evil. Prov. 16:4. With all of this in mind, let us ask ourselves, did God create everything by His Sovereign Decree or did He create everything by chance? Did God actually have a plan when He created all of this or did, He Just create it and hope for the best? Can even the weakest biblical minds in Christianity truly believe that the Creator of everything in existence created all this, without an ordained plan or a decree? And then they they honestly believe that the Creator of everything is not controlling it all with His Sovereign Power? The passage of scripture I used in the text is exactly the questions all people must ask themselves about God’s creation, did He truly not build it to finish it Himself, did God actually create all of this and leave any part of it for man to complete? Would a builder of anything just allow inexperienced labors to build his house or building and not control every aspect of that work? Please Lord, give us, even the most unlearned among us the ability to understand that You did not create all this without a plan. How could God know everything He decreed, ordained, predestinated, and chose, would be accomplished, if He did not see them to fulfilment by His own Sovereign Power and Authority. Surely God, who has all knowledge did not send His own Son Jesus to this world, to live a life of persecution, pain, sorrow, and even suffer death by chance that some would choose Him as their Saviour. God, with His Omniscience knowing the evil in the human heart and the enmity in the human heart toward Him, God who decreed that some would be saved and others would not, God who took a single lump of clay and made both vessels of honor and dishonor, actually left the most important part of the human life, a choice to them who “…none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.”? This would be worse than building your house on a sand foundation, it would be the most ignorant choice of all choices. W.E. Best once wrote “God’s purpose is founded in absolute sovereignty, ordered by infinite wisdom, ratified by omnipotence, and cemented by immutability.” God never fails, He never has one ordained will to fail, because He is the Sovereign authority and power over all His creation. Salvation and everything else are God’s decree and He controls ever aspect of His decree. Isaiah 14:24 “The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:” Proverbs 19:21 “There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.”

A better understanding of God’s election.

1 Peter 1:2 “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”

The election of God is one of the most confusing doctrines of the bible. It begins with an understanding of the inability of God to ever change, James calls it “…from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17b. With this in mind we must also understand the Omni-ness of God which means “all-ness”. The word Omniscient means God has all-knowledge, that is God can neither advance in knowledge, or decline in knowledge. We must also understand that part of God’s foreknowledge is Him being an Eternal Being, meaning there is no time with God. With God there is no yesterday, today, or tomorrow, there is just eternity. Time began (as far as we can understand) with the creation of the earth. We see in Prov. 8:23 “I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.” and time will die when the earth is destroyed. If we cannot understand what the bible means by the words “the eternal God” (Deut. 33:27) then we will never understand God or His knowledge, His ordained will, nor His Being as The Sovereign God. The word “variableness” means -"a transmission" from one condition to another- and the word “shadow” means -"shadowing-over of mutability" implying an alternation- these two words means God can never-ever have an occurrence where He changes, EVER! Therefore, it must be concluded when Peter wrote God “Elected according to the foreknowledge” His choosing or electing was not His picking one over another but rather Him eternally knowing who was His and who was not. When God made one vessel unto honor and another unto dishonor it was not an actual choice as we know choice but rather Him acting on His foreknowledge. Some people with an inability to understand does not make this not true. We must remember that God is an Eternal Being with no limits and we are created being with countless limits. God does not think like man, He does not have a heart like man, nor is He anything like man, because He is The Sovereign God of all creation and without limits. God does not owe it to anyone to be gracious to them, nor is He required to have grace on or save any person. Everything God does is by grace, “That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” Eph. 2:7 - 8. The truth is God was never without knowledge who He was going to save, He never actually picked and chose us, because that election was by of His foreknowledge not an actual choosing. People that refuse to accept and believe the truth about God are very confused in their description of the scriptures. The real question is, how does God know the happenings of the world thousands of years in advance? How did Danial write about the happenings of today, or how did John write the prophecy of Revelations? To assume God looked into the future and saw all these things, is about the most asinine suggestion about God that a human could make. God did not look into the future to see that Adam would fall, or that people would do certain things or that certain happenings would develop, or even that His Son Jesus would be crucified by the hands of wicked people. The bible clearly says God foreordained them, He knew everything beforehand because He has all-knowledge of everything, there is nothing God does not have eternal knowledge of, not one. Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” To deny the Sovereign Eternal mind and workings of God is to deny God! God saves sinners that He foreknew as His own, He gave them to Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world, and Jesus knew them as His own while He was being crucified for them on the cross. “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.” John 17:6 and John 18:9That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.”

Thank you, Lord God, for Your Gift of salvation!
