2 Timothy 4:18 “And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
For a
believer to understand the power and workings of God in our life is indeed a powerful
blessing. God told us in Heb. 13:6 “So that we may boldly say, The Lord
is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” God has promised us that he shall deliver us
and in that deliverance is His perseverance for us, the question is “do we
truly believe God”. If our faith is strong enough and God has blessed us with
this strong faith in Him, then we have only Him to fear. We need to remember
that whatever we are going to do for God on this earth is God who has
foreordained it for us. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should
walk in them.” Please, let us remember and never forget that God controls
all powers against us, all of the obstacles before us. The question for us is,
how strong is our faith in the ordained power of God for us? We are never
alone, God never commanded us to walk alone, oh, no, every walk, every work we
do for God and is in partnership with God. Every breath of life we breath is by
the will of God and every work we do is also by the power of God. God said in Acts
17:28a “For in him we live, and move, and have our being…” Our days
and our steps are ordered by the Lord, and even our bounds are in His authority
and power. Job 14:5 “Seeing his days are determined, the number of his
months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;”
Just in these few scriptures we must ask ourselves, “what do I have to fear”? Rom.
8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can
be against us?” The truth is, none can be against us because God is our
buckler and shield, He has us in His blessed hand and no one can harm us. John
10:29 “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is
able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.” God is our hope and that hope
comes through the person of Jesus Christ. Alone we can do nothing but through
Jesus Christ we can do all things. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things
through Christ which strengtheneth me.” The question we must all keep
asking ourselves when trouble arises, when hurt or harm come, when it seems
that it is no longer just raining but pouring down, is how much do we
believe God? Let us not forget what the Psalmist David wrote these words of
our blessing, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he
delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for
the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” Psalms 37:23 – 24.
In closing
let me remind us all, life on this earth is hard, the powers that be are
powerful, but none are as powerful as God, yes God, the Creator of everything,
the Creator and Caretaker of the entire universe. He holds the sun, moon, and
stars in His blessed hand just as He hold’s us in His all-powerful hand. And it
is to us that He has eternally promised to never leave us nor forsake us. We
need to remember through every trial and persecution that it is He that
promised to take us through, and that millions died horrible ordained deaths at
the will of God. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they
comfort me.” Psalms 23:4. Beloved, we have nothing to fear but God, and
this is our strength, our buckler, our stay in life, even Satan himself will
bow before Jesus Christ because God is over all.
Let me
leave with more words from the Psalms where David wrote, “I laid me down and
slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten
thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O
LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek
bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the
LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.” Psalm 3:5-8
