Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
God make is crystal clear in His word that salvation is a
gift from God to those whom He gives it to; it is not a gift we give God.
Listen, please hear God, never in the scriptures does God contradict Himself.
God never told man to save themselves because it is impossible for man to do
so. If you study what God says about man you will understand that man has no
ability to saved themselves in any shape, form, or fashion. God boldly said in
our text scripture that salvation is “that not of yourselves…not of works”,
therefore, it must be concluded that salvation cannot be accomplished by a lost
sinner in any part. Without the quickening of a dead spirit a human soul has
not ability to change themselves for the good. We are all born at enmity with
God, “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to
the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Rom. 8:7. Therefore, the enmity must be
abolished before a sinner even has a true desire to repent. Because this enmity
is a wall built between God and all sinners that must be torn down and
abolished before salvation is even possible. Ephesians 2:14-15 “For he is our
peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of
partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of
commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new
man, so making peace;”. And this is only possible in and through Jesus Christ
and the work He has accomplished. The religious arm of Christdom would have us
to believe that salvation is, in part or as a whole on part of the spiritually
dead sinner that is at enmity with God and does not understand nor seek after
God, Rom.3:11. God went on to say in verse 12 “…they are together become
unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” This religious arm
of Christdom would also have you to believe that God is submissive to man, this
same human population that hates Him from birth. They would have you to believe
that God is begging you to believe on Jesus, that God has no power to “change
your human will” but in the very same breath prays to this weak and powerless “god”
that they say cannot change your will to save your soul! However, why would I
pray this “god” at all “if” he did not have the power to save me? But the real
question must be asked, why would God, the very Creator of everything in
existence not have Sovereignty over everything He created? How can we believe
that God is Omniscient and Omnipresent if He does not have the authority and
power to simply save a lost and dying sinner? What other creature in creation
does God not have ruling authority and power over? And why would God ever put
Himself under the rule and power of a spiritually dead sinner who was born
hating Him? And why would God send His own Son to die by the hands of wicked man
on a guess that man would ever believe on Him?
The truth is, God does not surrender Himself to sinful man’s
authority, nor is God competing with Satan for a spiritually dead and lost
sinner to make a decision to accept Christ. Salvation is a gift of God’s grace
and if it’s a gift of grace then it cannot be of any sort of human work. “Even
so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election
of grace. And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no
more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is
no more work.” Romans 11:5 & 6. God never told
spiritually dead sinners who are born at enmity with Himself to choose Him over
Satan to be saved. He never told them to make a decision, nor to pray any sort
of prayer to be saved. The truth is, God never told us we must do anything but
repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved.
