Speaking The Truth In Love!

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” Ephesians 4:15

The most important thing to a Believer in Jesus Christ is truth, there is absolutely no substitution for truth. It is absolutely a must if you are going to worship God, John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” One might ask, with all the disagreement in different churches, denominations, or etc. what is truth? Truth is God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, and the bible, outside of that truth does not exist, that is biblically speaking. I am a believer in preaching the truth in love, love makes the truth easer for the lost unbeliever to handle, or those believers who are without truth understanding. I believe we can look like mean vicious Christians or we can be loving, witnessing in love. If a believer shares the truth in hate or a spiteful way, then the truth is useless. We cannot beat people who disagree over the head with truth and expect them to learn anything. Once we hurt a person’s feelings then they tune us out. If we are tuned out, then we have lost the battle to communicate the truth as Jesus commanded. We are not allowed to judge the lost or weak believer for their life style, judgment is not our job description as Christians or churches. If we are commanded to speak the truth in love, or to preach the truth in love, then that is what we are to do. Jesus Christ never went around condemning people for their lifestyles, nor did He ever mock them. He simply preached to them repentance by salvation in Himself. I believe sometimes good Christian people can be very mean, especially in condemning others. Here I would like to say that good Christians seek truth, learns truth, follows truth, and teaches truth, but only in love. I have learned over the years in dealing with the lost, or out-of-fellowship Christians that once an argument starts, I have just lost their attention. If I get hateful with them then there are the same results, I lose them. If we lose them then our witness is over, we lose the witness. I know a lot of believers mean well, but we need to use the pattern of Jesus in our witness of the truth, as with the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, who was also a ruler of the Jews. In this story in John chapter 3 Jesus never directed any hate toward Nicodemus, Jesus never even told him he was lost, no, Jesus just told him that if he did not believe or be born again, he would not see or enter the kingdom of God. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 I believe there is a gross misunderstanding among a lot of Christians on Facebook. It makes the ones sharing this thought to look hateful, mean, and not in love. First, 1 Corinthians 6:9 does not condemn all gays, homosexuals, (or whatever else you want to call them) to hell. People are misusing this scripture and it make Christians look intolerant of sinful people. I really wished that people would study the scriptures before they act so harshly toward others. I know God’s feelings toward gays, I know God’s feelings toward lost sinners in general. I was told this week on Facebook that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of sodomy and that shows Gods unwillingness to save any of them. But, I remember before the flood that God elected to destroy every man, woman, and child on the earth except the eight in the ark, why, because of sin. If you will notice in 1 Corinthians 6:9 homosexuality is not the only sinners mentioned, God also included “neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers…Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” Why are Christians singling out gays? Why not include the others that God included here? In fact, God said in the very opening sentence of verse 9 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God…” does this mean that all thieves, drunkards, or etc. etc. etc. will never be saved? How about this scripture, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8 Does this mean that every liar will burn in hell, well no it does not. Folks, sometimes Christians falls back into sin, they are not lost, condemned, nor hated of God. Why if a Christian got involved in homosexuality, you say it is impossible, how do you know? This week has made me sick, this discussion has reached a pitch of hated and this should not be so for Christians. Folks, I do not believe that anyone, no one group of people are outside of the saving grace of our gracious God. I believe this sharing on Facebook needs to stop, I believe it is unscriptural and unloving. Now in closing, I am not defending the act of homosexuality, I have been treated very badly from some “so called Christians” I have even unfriended some and asked them not to speak to me again. No, I am not gay, and anyone who knows me, knows I am not. I am also not an advocate for them, and personally detest the act of homosexuality. And it is not them I am defending, I would also defend a liar, thief, or etc. the same way. Folks, we are not to be haters of any people, not even of them that hate us. I believe this post being shared is hate, this is not Christian love, there is none in it, and I would hope that believers will stop sharing it and find another loving way to witness to the homosexual world. It is never a good witness to take the scripture out of context in an attempt to witness, if that is even what that is. I hope and pray that this has been a study of God’s word, I am always open to learning and if I am wrong then please show me proof in the scriptures. May God richly bless us all as we continue to study to show ourselves approved un to God. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Galatians 4:16 “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” I hope not!
