“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and
her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Genesis
3:15
In this verse we have a glorious promise from God, “…it
shall bruise thy head…” the word “it” being Jesus Christ the seed of the woman.
Here we see the first promise of redemption shortly after we saw the destruction
of mankind. Satan had just used the weaker vessel of the two to cause Adam to
sin and to bring condemnation to the entire human race. “For as in Adam all
die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” (1 Corinthians 15:22) Once
Eve eat of the fruit in believing Satan’s lie over God, it was this power that
cause Adam to also eat, because of his love for his wife. “And when the
woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the
eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof,
and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” (Genesis
3:6) Satan knew that the way to Adams heart ran thru the woman that God had
given him for his wife. The effects of this was catastrophic, it destroyed mankind’s
relationship between God and mankind, causing mankind to be eternally at enmity
with God. Every child born from the seed of these two (which includes the world’s
entire population) would be born hostile to God. Mankind was so destroyed that
God said, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by
sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans
5:12) In Roman chapter 3 God gives a very strong condemnation of mankind,
verses 1 – 20 and in that passage God used this language, “Destruction and
misery are in their ways:” (Romans 3:16) or that is their mind set because they are Satan’s
children and not God’s, that being the world’s entire population. Mankind after
the fall, as a result of the fall become the children of Satan and are such in conception.
“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” (Psalms
51:5) When the Lord speaks of Satan’s seed in Gen. 3:15 He is speaking of the
entire population of the world. When God speaks of “her seed” He is
speaking of the same gender that Satan used to cause Adam to sin, would also
deliver to the world a Saviour in the man Jesus the Christ. Jesus the natural Son
of God is the promised seed of the woman who will crush the head of the serpent.
Satan only bruised Jesus’s heal in the crucifixion but in the end, Satan will
be forever destroyed in the hottest part of hell, prepared for him and his
angels. “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and
brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented
day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10) I love to
point this fact out, notice God said Jesus would “it shall bruise thy head” the
word “bruise” means -to gape – which means to crush its head wide open. God knew
how to kill a snake. However, the end results of Satan’s work were the sinfulness
of mankind, causing all of mankind to be eternally separated from God. God
would never accept a child of Satan into His family. “Ye (all mankind)
are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.
He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there
is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar, and the father of it.” (John 8:44) Satan thru his sinful actions
in the fall has absolutely blinded the entire population of the world from
being able to see or hear the saving words of redemption. “But if our gospel
be hid, it is hid to them that are lost…In whom the god of this world hath
blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious
gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
(2 Corinthians 4:3 - 4) Satan would have won this battle if God had not
chosen to send His Beloved Son Jesus to redeem a remnant of the worlds condemned
population. The victory is in Jesus, not in mankind, man being blinded cannot self-redeem
no more than a dead person can self-resurrect themselves. All of those folks
who believe that somehow they can save themselves by works, baptism, or any
other self-matter is believing the devil’s lie and will be asking Jesus at the
Great White Throne, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not
prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name
done many wonderful works?” (Matthew 7:22) John wrote, “Whosoever
believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth
him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him… For whatsoever is born
of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world,
even our faith.” (1 John 5:1) Folks, the victory is in Jesus Christ
not in fallen man, believe on Jesus Christ as Saviour that you might have life
eternal.
