The Sovereignty of God Part 3 "The Election of God."

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” Ephesians 1:3 – 4

God begins this very long sentence (verses 3 – 6) talking about our blessings in Christ. When God speaks of those “in Christ” He is speaking about the saved. If you are not saved, you cannot be in Christ nor are you blessed with “spiritual blessings in heavenly places”. Now God steps-it-up with this glorious thought, “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world”. The “Spiritual Blessings…in Christ” is the very fact that God has chosen a remnant of people in this world to be blessed in Christ that are called His children. The words “chosen and elected” are the very same Greek word in general. Those whom God elected He choose to be His before the foundation of the world. The question is “who are the elect of God”? Most deniers of Election say the elect are the Jews, but they are not correct. Israel is God’s chosen “Nation” in the Old Testament, this elect is “God’s chosen people, in Christ”. If the meaning of the chosen here are the Jews, then all Jesus would be saved because these people are “blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”, and we know all Jews were not saved. No one completely understands the election of God because we cannot understand how God who does not change chose a remnant of people to be His eternal children. But what we do understand is that God did elect a remnant of people, both Jews and Gentiles to be His elect children. We also will never understand why God chose Israel as His chosen Nation or this remnant to be His chosen family, because God gives no reasoning outside of it was “His love, good pleasure, and His will” to do so. The deniers of election also deny the Sovereignty of God, they believe that God works on chance, God works according to our will, God accepts what we give Him. But the True God, He chose a remnant in Christ before the foundation of the world and “blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places” before the foundation of the world, we did not choose Him. Paul made a profound statement when he said “But by the grace of God I am what I am…” 1 Cor. 15:10 meaning whatever he was in Christ, it was all by God’s grace. Paul never took credit for anything he was or did because everything in His Christian life was by Gods grace and power. We read in Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” This is exactly what Paul was talking about, we are God’s creation created unto good works in Christ Jesus, and God “ordained that we should walk in them”. God does nothing “by chance” God is not dependent on us for anything, God ordained everything He wanted before the foundation of the world, which means it cannot fail. Have you ever heard the the old saying, “if you want it done right, do it yourself” well that is exactly what God has done, God ordained what He wanted and carried it out with His own power. God does not allow man to do anything that He has not ordained them to do. Man is not due any credit for anything spiritual, all spiritual blessings are from God, in Christ.
Now, lets look at God’s children, they were elected before the foundation of the world. They are the blessed in Christ with spiritual blessings in heavenly places. Jesus speaks about His Father giving Him a remnant of people before the foundation of the world. “As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.” John 17:2 And in verse 9 Jesus says these words, “I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.” Why didn’t Jesus pray for everyone in the earth? Because He was only praying for God’s elect, the others in the world are wicked and will never be brought to Jesus Christ for salvation. The myth in the worlds religious teaching is that God loves everyone, but God does not, God loves His elect and only His elect. These are those whom He gave to Christ before the foundation of the world and saved them in time. The truth that the world of religion hates is that God hates sinners, “For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.” Psalms 5:4 – 5 that is except His elect. Now some Sovereign Grace deniers will say that God “fell out of love with them because they would not repent” but that is not true. The truth is God never loved them, because God is immutable and changes not, ever! “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17 If God cannot change, then He cannot love and hate the same person, that is change and it is contradiction on God’s part. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 The bible only speaks of a Sovereign God, anything less is not biblical. Taking scriptures out-of-context to create a false doctrine is changing the scriptures to worship the creature instead of the creator. Romans 1:25 “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” Think about it, does God depend on mankind who drinks sin like water, who loves darkness more than light, who are enmities of God, to repent and change themselves? No, because God the Sovereign chose or elected them before the foundation of the world, and delivered them to Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit in time, making us His children, PRAISE GOD!!!
