“Behold the Lamb of God”

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”  John 1:29

What a beautiful title this is, Jesus Christ was, is, and always be the Lamb of God. Why did God call Jesus His own Son a Lamb, why did Jesus refer to Himself as a Lamb? What does God mean when He says “Lamb…which taketh away the sin of the world.” Believe it or not all of this has a most valuable meaning to believers or Christians. First, Jesus was a lamb, He was God’s own Son, made of God’s own seed not of man’s as we are. Jesus was different in that He was not conceived in iniquity, nor did he come from His mother’s womb speaking lie’s as we all did. Jesus was God’s Son therefore He was totally innocent, there was no sin in Him, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 The words “…who knew no sin;” means He was a pure and sinless human being, the name “Lamb” itself describes Him as innocent in every way. Lambs were sacrificed because of their innocence in the Old Testament times, Jesus was a Lamb not only because of His innocence but also because He was God’s own Son, “Behold the Lamb of God” The bloodline of sin comes through Adam who is the father of all human beings. It was because of Father Adams sin that all have sinned and come short of God’s glory. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23 also read this scripture, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12 As humans we do not have to sin in our life, we are sinners at birth from the womb because we were conceived in iniquity. “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”  Psalms 51:5 Job asked this question, “Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.” Job 14:4 The truth is that an unclean man cannot produce a clean child because his seed is sinful. This is the reason all people born were born of a mans seed and all people born were born sinful and depraved in totality. This is proven by God’s own words, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Romans 3:10 - 12 NONE, NONE, NONE, NO NOT ONE! It is simple and clear that there is not one single righteous person born on this earth except Jesus the Lamb of God. When God said “who knew no sin;” 2 Corinthians 5:21 He means Jesus was pure and righteous because His Father was God the Father and not Adam.

Now we must look at God’s grace, The Father sending His own Son was an act of grace because the Father could have destroyed us all and sent us all to hell’s eternal fire, but He did not because of grace. “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;” Titus 3:4 - 6  God sent His own Innocent Lamb to this world to be our sacrifice and cleanse our sin’s not for everyone in the world, but for all in the world who believe in Him as their Saviour. “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.” 1 Timothy 4:10 It is those that believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour that have received God’s grace and gift of salvation through His Lamb that was ordained before the foundation of the world. “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:10 – 12

If you have not believed on God’s Lamb to cleanse you of all your sins, then you are not saved from hell’s eternal fires. You will account for the sin of your Father Adam and your own sins in eternity as punishment for them. While Jesus died for the sins of the world, He did not die for the sins of every soul in the world. It you do not trust in God’s record then you make God a liar in your own heart and will travel the wide road to hell’s everlasting unquenchable fire of pain and suffering. Please read these scriptures very carefully!  "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." 1 John 5:9 - 12
